Understand best-effort text extraction from supported uploads.

PutBoard can include extracted document text in Board search so visitors can retrieve information inside a file.

What to know

  1. Upload a supported PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX or CSV to the relevant content item.
  2. Add a descriptive title and summary instead of relying only on extraction.
  3. Allow processing to finish, then search the public Board for a distinctive phrase from the document.

Good to know

  • Scanned image-only PDFs may contain no machine-readable text unless they have been processed with OCR before upload.
  • Extraction is best effort and should not replace clear surrounding content.
